GallbladderCholecystectomy

Cholecystectomy, or surgical removal of the gallbladder, is indicated in those patients who have gallstones causing symptoms. Typical symptoms include right upper quadrant abdominal pain, nausea, and/or vomitting. These symptoms may also develop in patients with biliary dyskinesia, a condition in which the gallbladder does not empty properly, even in the absence of gallstones.
